Book Review: You Beneath Your Skin
Genre: Fiction (Crime)
Author: Damyanti Biswas
Publisher: Simon and Schuster India
My Ratings: 5/5⭐️
My Review: This book revolves around Suspense, Love, Sufferings, Rape, Murder, Horror, Psychological disorder, Sympathy and Empathy. Damyanti Biswas’s debut novel, ‘You Beneath Your Skin’ is a primary example of a murder mystery with plenty of twists and turns in a complex plot. It is tough to believe that she is a first-time author. The story had me turning page after page to know how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. The author shows how things are not always as they seem and that every family has secrets. What stands out in this book is how the acid attack survivor, Anjali, stays so incredibly strong through all of those horrific acts that intended to break and ruin her. This realisation is reflected through Jatin’scharacter, who remarks that the women in his life are phenomenally strong. The plot is inspired from our real world where murders, misogyny, corruption, personal prejudices are common and as a reader, you can relate to it very well. This book is worth reading because of the insights given by the author into the Indian society. Therefore, I highly recommend everyone to read this book.

2.Life is short. Don’t make it shorter.
3.Ten years ago, no one knew what a smartphone was and now look at the lot of them. Phones had replaced manners.
4.Focus on the positives.
5.A heart is a heart and not a brick or a stone. Why should it not brim over with pain?
6.Follow the example of water; pause and gather strength until an obstacle no longer presents a challenge.
